CNC proLIGHT 1000 Milling Technology

Modern milling techniques are an essential element in both small and large scale automated manufacturing industries.

intelitek's CNC proLIGHT 1000 Milling Technologyintroduces students to the fundamentals of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling by working with a variety of actual and simulated robotic workcell applications.

Students grasp the fundamentals of CNC milling by working with industrial based equipment to accurately machine multiple complex parts. Students observe and experience CNC's superiority over time consuming, less accurate, manually controlled machine tools.

intelitek's tekLINK activities challenge students to develop and edit programs and machine assorted parts. Students gain hands-on experience in proper machine set up, cutting tool selection, tool path simulation and machining center operation. Students design solutions for industrial CNC milling applications with emphasis on real industrial concerns, such as optimized programming, accurate milling and increased productivity.

intelitek offers the rugged proLIGHT 1000 Machining Center. It features an intuitive Windows 95 software interface and conform to industrial EIA, ISO, Fanuc, G and M code standards.

tekLINK curriculum incorporates SCANS and National Skills Standards in a 15-lesson format designed to bridge the transition between school and the workplace.

The CNC Milling Technology is supported with optional multimedia enhancements, and classroom management software which allows the instructor total classroom control.

Curriculum

The Activities Book contains 15 activities, each of which can be completed in one 45-minute lab session. Each activity includes the following sections:

  • Objectives - goals the student will achieve,
  • SCANS skills - competencies the student will develop,
  • Materials - specific items needed for the activity,
  • Overview - description of the subjects to be explored,
  • Procedures - includes a series of tasks or operations the students perform; questions and review conclude each activity,
  • Worksheets - all questions and tasks are printed on a set of worksheets for recording the student's answers and lab results,
  • Academics - contains enrichment materials such as industrial applications and opportunities.
The fifteen student activities in proLIGHT1000 curriculum are:
  1. Getting Started
  2. Mill Components
  3. The Control Program
  4. Mounting the Stock
  5. Tooling
  6. Home Positions
  7. Selecting an NC Program
  8. Verify and Dry Run the Program
  9. Run the NC Program
  10. NC Programming
  11. Coordinate Systems
  12. Developing an NC Program
  13. Editing the NC Program
  14. Verify and Run the Program
  15. Final Project and Conclusion

The ProLight 1000 Mill offers an affordable option for teaching real world CNC programming skills. Uses standard R-8 collets so finding tooling for this machine is easy.  This machine also makes a great addition to a CAD/CAM program when you need a machine to manufacture prototype parts. Your students can draw their parts on the CAD system, process the file through any popular CAM software and create standard G&M codes that run the machine. "Art -To-Part" in your classroom!
