ER-9 Robotic System
The SCORBOT-ER 9 robot is the latest in a growing family of DC servo robots manufactured by Eshed Robotec. The advantages of the SCORBOT-ER IX robot over other robots in its price range include speed, accuracy, path control and advanced control technology.

The robot arm is vertically articulated, having harmonic drives on all five joints. The feedback system utilizes C-pulse optical encoders for high homing repeatability of the robot. The SCORBOT-ER IX has a sturdy mechanical structure, which results in high precision (repeatability about 0.09mm) and high speed. The payload of 2kg means this robot is well suited for light and medium loads in various applications. The end effector flange can accomodate a variety of electric or pneumatic grippers, and an optional automatic tool changer can be easily attached. Full, continuous path capabilities set this robot apart from others of its type.

The SCORBOT-ER IX ACL type B controller was designed with the most demanding cell control requirements of a robot and its environment. It has two RS232 communication channels (expandable to 10) and one bi-directional parallel port. Its Motorola 68020 CPU provides multitasking of up to 20 programs, allowing real-time sensor and external input monitoring and response. A Motorola MC68881 floating point math co-processor adds computational power for speedy path and trajectory calculations. The controller is equipped with with 6 DC servo axes (expandable to 12 - optional). The 16 inputs and 16 outputs provide extensive digital communication and external machine synchronization.
