We offer robots that vary from the basic ER-4u
system to the advanced ER-14. There are several major differences
to consider when choosing the right robot for your application.
All of our robots require a computer for programming.
The ER4u robot will use your desktop computer as the controller.
The robot will use a convenient connection through your computers
USB port. All of our other robots have their own controller. You
write programs and download them into the robots controller through
a serial connection.
The ER-9
and ER-14 robots can use either ScoreBase
or the common ACL programming language. Without getting into details...
if you need to have multiple robots in a complex system, with all
of the elements talking to one another, then ACL is the best choice.
Programs are generally written on a desktop computer and downloaded
through a serial port to the robot controller. These machines also
leave open the option of creating your own operating interface using
common programming tools like C+, Visual Basic, etc. The ER-5, ER-9
and ER-14 include a powerful controller that has multiple microprocessors
capable of doing math calculations at blazing fast speeds. Yes,
even faster than your fancy new desktop computer!
About ScoreBase and
RoboCell...
ScoreBase is the standard programing language that is included
with each robot. It runs in Windows, is simple to use yet extremely
powerful. ScoreBase also has the ability to control and monitor
the analog and digital I/O ports that are provided on the robots
interface. ScoreBase can be used off-line without a robot attached.
RoboCell is an add-on to ScoreBase that
provides a beautiful 3D simulation of your program. In a classroom
setting, multiple students can develop and test their programs with
RoboCell without having access to the robot hardware. It's an awesome
teaching tool. Since students can complete their development work
on RoboCell, you can keep a classroom full of students busy without
having a robot for each one.

to grab a copy of the manuals while you're there.
